New York

I was in New York last week. I was born and raised in New Jersey, only 15 minutes outside the city. I was there with my friend, fiance and baby girl. It is never a boring trip going home. We went to the Empire State Building and the wax museum. Last time we were in the city, we went to ground zero. I know it sounds chessy, but whenever I go to the city and they always have a memorial for 9/11. I tend to get numb. It was the reason I joined the Army and going back there everytime gets to me. I just take it very personally. My fiance has never been there and he wanted to see the reason why he has been to Iraq as well 3 times. I understand, because I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as well. Just standing there, emotions run through your body, that can not be explained. Just thoughts.

  1. I have never been to NY or NJ. I have heard that both places are great. Also, thank you both for serving.

  2. Amanda,

I bet one cannot help but get emotional when seeing ground zero, especially being raised so close to the city. I have been to New York once, and I do want to go back to visit the site. I will follow Nicole by thanking you and your fiance for serving, and for being strong while deployed.
